Climate change is  already here, but the goals of living climate neutral are getting closer and the world is lagging behind on these goals. When we talk about climate change, it’s really about system change. What can a Basic Income mean to this transition?

When we talk about the economy, we often talk about economic growth, as if that’s the only goal. And ofcourse, in a system wich needs economic growth in order to give as much people a job so they can meet their basic needs, economic growth is indeed necessary. But when you give people at least their basic needs, do we really need economy growth?  And, what is the purpose of the economy anyway? Because unlimited wants for growth makes very little sense on a finite planet.

A Basic
Income could be the basis the start of a new economy that truly works for everyone, because this financial security ensures people to be no longer in a rat race just to survive. Because of this, people could be more focussing on what makes them happy and living a more sustainable life.

With experts such as
Prof. Guy Standing, Prof. dr. Gerhard Reese, Andrew Yang, Christian Felber,  Rutger Hoekstra and many more, we want to find out what Basic Income means on how people live and the implications on a societal level.

We travel the world to countries where Basic Income experiments are done, to follow people and see how they experience life with a Basic Income. Previous experiments showed that they were healthier and happier, came out of poverty and were therefore more capable of taking care of themselves and the planet. And as Andrew Yang says; “I am in economic pain, the penguins can wait in line.” In other words, people ineconomic insecurity are not good for the world because the basic security and needs aren’t met properly.

We will answer these questions and more in our documentary.
