Henriëtta Joosten studied both business administration and philosophy at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. In 2015 she obtained her PhD in philosophy from this university. She worked as an associate professor of Financial Ethics (Arnhem University ofApplied Sciences) and as a university lecturer/researcher at the IT&Design faculty (The Hague University of Applied Sciences). Author of philosophical books – nominated for the Socrates Cup and Hypatia Prize – and articles on the intersection of data, technology society and higher education. The common thread in her work is the reduction of money-and data-driven thinking, so that space is created for ‘working from (other) values’ & public reflection on those values.  She says; “The transition to a sustainable economy, the advancing use of technology: these developments affect us all. In a free society, everyone can have a say in the question of what kind of society we are creating. What does this require from (the training of) professionals?”
